For all incoming students as well as returning domestic students, the following steps must be taken to apply for financial assistance.
Login to MYFAID. Click on "Apply Online" tab at top of page and complete the application. You will be directed to a page that says, "Application completed successfully." If you are not directed to that page, review your application for missing information and resubmit.
To login into MYFAID you must use your Student ID and PIN. Your Student ID was emailed to you by the Student Financial Services Office. To request your PIN, use the link on MYFAID to have your PIN emailed to you. Your PIN will be sent to the email address that you provided to the Office of Admssions.
Please note: You must use either Internet Explorer or Firefox to complete the application; Safari is not supported.
After completion of Step 1, logout of MYFAID and log back in. The "Documents" tab will now appear in MYFAID with a personalized list of documents you must submit based on the answers you submitted on your application. You can also access these documents through the "Forms" tab in MYFAID.
For all domestic students, to be fully considered for all financial assistance, including merit fellowships, we strongly encourage you to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the school code E00215. FAFSAs can be completed beginning January 1, 2009 and should be completed prior to the HKS financial aid application deadline.
If you have not filed your taxes, you should complete the FAFSA using estimated information and correct the data once you have filed.
Financial assistance decisions for two-year program applicants are released around the same time as the admissions decisions. Decisions for the one-year MC/MPA program are released in late April.
Once you receive your Financial Assistance Recommendation Offer, you will be able accept or decline the offer in MYFAID. Review all the information on the "Messages" tab as well the details on the Financial Assistance Recommendation Offer.
You may be required to complete additional information in order for funds to disburse to your e-bill (examples include Public Service Fellowship contracts and loan promissory notes). These documents, if applcibale, will be found on the "Documents" tab in MYFAID.
