Harvard Kennedy School in the World: Video Stories From Around the Globe 

Harvard Kennedy School in the World is a series of five short video stories about our alumni’s work across the globe. Three Kennedy School students followed their graduation by spending the summer capturing the impact and reach of the diverse work of seven alumni in India, Georgia, Serbia, Washington DC and Vietnam. Many thanks to the three filmmakers: Eleni Andreadis, Steve Grove, and Scott Taylor, all MPP 2006.

Noreen Dunne, India


Noreen Dunne MC/MPA 1991 is the Deputy Director of Hayden Hall, a community development center in Darjeeling, India. “There is no glamour in the grass roots; it’s tough,” Noreen says. “I want to bridge that tremendous gap between the grass roots workers and the policy makers that seems to be getting wider and wider.”

Gela Bezhuashvili, Georgia


Gela Bezhuashvili KSGEE participated in an Executive Education Program in 1998 and later interrupted his Mid-Career MPA year (2003-04) to return to the Republic of Georgia to contribute to the country's new direction in the wake of the Rose Revolution. “This is a school that is needed for somebody who has an ambition to one day take responsibility for his country’s future,” says Gela.


Marie Nelson, United States


Marie Nelson MPP 1998 is a program director at National Public Radio in Washington DC. Marie came to the Kennedy school “to develop all of the strong analytical skills that the School is renown for,” but also to learn from students “who were coming from around the world and who brought into the classroom their real world experiences.”

Katarina Veljovic, Vuk Jeremić, Ana Trbovich, Serbia


Katarina Veljovic MPP 2002, Vuk Jeremić MPA/ID 2003, and Ana Trbovich MPA 2001, are helping to build the new Serbia. Vuk, now the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Serbia, says “A key moment in my career development at the Kennedy School is the encouragement of leadership in public service. It’s actually about what we contribute to the society.”

Thanh Nguyen, Vietnam


Thanh Nguyen MPA 2006 is a senior lecturer of public policy at the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program in Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam. “My ambition is to make some impact on public policy in Vietnam,” says Thanh. “Critical thinking is the key to development.”
